ورد في الصحاح أنّ هرقلَ سأل أبا سفيان بن حرب عن قتالهم النبيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فأجابه: أن الحرب سِجَال ودُوَل؛ ينال منهم وينالون منه .. فقال هرقل: فكذلك الرُّسل؛ تُبتلى ثم تكون لهم العاقبة.
فأبشروا بعقبى الخير ما تمسّكنا بالرسالة، ونحن الأعلون وإن دالت دولة الأسافل ظاهرًا، فهذه سنة الله مذ برأ الخليقةَ وتدافعَ الحقُّ والباطل.
ولا يعزبنّ عنكم أن المسلمَ مفتّلُ ربطِ الجأش عند النوائب، راسخُ القدم لا تقلّبه الأحزانُ ذات اليمين وذات الشمال؛
"ونفس الحُرّ تثبت للعوادي وإن كانت ممزّعة الأديمِ
فما تدري الثباتَ سوى الرواسي ولا تذرو الرياحُ سوى الهشيمِ".
